We always hear that keeping our environment in a good condition can be defined as heir the better environment to the next generation. Yet, how’s our current generation? Do they care about their future? A better future for the environment.
For answering that question, For Us Bike Community (FBC) talked with one of young generation whose hobby is biking, Enda (22). She’s a member of Fixie Street of Pekanbaru (Fixstop). “At first, biking is just my hobby,” Enda said to start the conversation, Friday (20/1). But now biking is more than a need. Because our environment need us to not force them sniffing carbon dioxide (CO2) from our vehicles.
Therefore, the members of Fixstop always go to their cool place by bike. “Cool, it means that we always go hang up at that place by bike. We don’t go there by motorbike anymore, even thought we have our own motor vehicles,” Enda, the alumni of Politeknik Caltex Riau, said.
That guy who wants to be called Enda also told about the schedule of Fixstop gowes. There are two schedules, morning and afternoon. There are also at night, it’s on Wednesday and Friday. “About at 8 pm, we gather at Diponegoro street, near to Patung Perjuangan. After that, we go to Pruna MTQ. This place is where we can do Freestyle Fixie and say that young people also care about environment without leaving being cool”, Enda said.
‘We also do it in the afternoon. But the schedule is changeable. We inform the schedule internally”, added Enda. Other unique of this community is that there’s no seniority or structural organization. “For those who wants to join us, just join when we are doing Gowes. Okay?,” Enda, a contractor employee, said.
This community, that has around 70 members, also has another activity. That is, attending Car Free Day every Sunday. “Biking is an activity that can make us healthy and being friendly to environment. But, no matter how good we are at biking, we must concern and prior our safety,” Enda adviced.
